Program Description

Journalism and Social Communication Studies prepares students for specialization in the competitive field of modern journalism and innovative social communication with the use of new information and communication technologies.

Our dynamic curriculum includes a wide range of educational subjects, including but not limited to: foreign language courses, scientific seminars, opportunity for internships, and more. All subjects stand in accordance with the higher educational standards in Poland, according to the Bologna system.

Specific Information

The study program includes many interesting subjects, incl. workshops on radio, press, television and internet journalism, rhetoric and journalistic style, promotion, advertising and marketing, communication theory, media ethics, public relations, cultural heritage of John Paul II, computer graphics and creativity in virtual reality, data presentation techniques - infographic, implementation radio and television, social media, etc.

In addition to these subjects, this Institute offers a wide range of interesting resources and extracurricular activities that complement the studies:

  • Research in the field of media science and social communication

Credentials After Study

After enrolling in these studies, the graduate will gain knowledge and skills in the following areas:

The variety and richness of the educational offer in all specialties guarantees its graduates professional preparation for work in a wide area of media and social communication. Our graduates work in TVP1, TVP Kraków, Radio Kraków, Interia.pl and other portals, in editorial offices of the regional and central press, PR agencies, advertising agencies, in network analysis corporations, in press offices, event agencies, etc.

Students can also further supplement their knowledge and professional skills with continuing education after this degree, taking part of specialized projects and/or gaining additional certificates through academies such as the Image Academy, Academy of Sound, and Academy of Innovative Communication.

Polish document

  • a matriculation examination or matriculation examination and a certificate on the results of the matriculation examination in particular subject;
    (a copy supplied the office, the original presented for inspection);

Foreign document

  • a certificate or another document referred to in Art. 69 sec. 2 of the Act Law on Higher Education and Science,
  • the apostille/legalization,
  • an official translation of the certificate or another document (applies only to the documents that were NOT issued in Polish or English),
  • a document confirming that the above mentioned certificate or document entitles to apply for admission to a first-cycle program / long- cycle program of studies at any type of university (applies only if there is no such information in the document),
  • an administrative decision of the competent school superintendent on recognition of the certificate or the other document as a proof of entitlement to apply for admission to first-cycle studies or long-cycle studies - applies only to certificates or other foreign documents referred to in art. 93 sec. 3 of the Law on the Education System;

Additional documents for all

  • the recruitment form (generated upon completion of the online recruitment procedure),
  • a letter of recommendation from the parish priest, in case of lay applicants,
  • a document confirming knowledge of English at B1 level;
  • a consent of superiors in the case of religious, clergy and members of associations of apostolic life;

Additional documents for the winners and finalists of secondary school contests at the central level or winners of international and national competitions

  • certificate confirming an achievement in school contests or competitions referred to in Resolution No. 108/2018 of the Senate The Pontifical University of John Paul II in Krakow, dated 19 December 2018 regarding the determination of the rules of admission of the winners and finalists of secondary school contests at the central level, winners of international and national competitions in 2019/2020; 2020/2021; 2021/2022; 2022/2023 years;

Additional documents

  • power of attorney - in case of persons who submit documents through an attorney;
  • a consent of legal guardians – in case of applicants who remain minors at the time of enrollment.
